Shaun North

Shaun is from the UK but has lived in the Czech Republic and Germany since 1996. Between 1996-2000 he worked as an English teacher and from 2000-2008 he held a series of management positions with the British Council in the Czech Republic and Germany. He is currently completing his MSc in Marketing.

In his free time he enjoys watching football, reading a good book or enjoying a nice cold Czech beer in his local pub.



David Sweetnam

David Sweetnam

David has been teaching English for over ten years, and has taught in Australia, France and the Czech Republic. He's a Cambridge ESOL examiner and has worked at Charles University and the British Council.

He is interested in self-development, and integrates selected ideas from this field into his lessons. His teaching philosophy involves focussing on the four main skills and promoting the importance of lexical items (vocabulary) in communication:

"I can see the importance of grammar, but Czech learners are usually good in this area, but sounding natural and communicating effectively in business and in personal relationships involves using the right word or words."

In his free time, he travels to Central European hotspots, studies French and Czech, and keeps fit.



George Smid

George is originally from Melbourne, Australia and moved to Switzerland in 2007. He gained a CELTA teaching certificate in Prague and taught English in Zurich during 2008. He later moved to Prague to uncover his hidden heritage and has been teaching English to Czech students ever since. He speaks Czech at a competent level and holds skills in modern computing which he utilises while teaching students in IT/management businesses. His personal strengths are considered to be his patience, honesty, flexibility and dependability.

In his spare time he enjoys cycling, camping, photography, videography, designing computer animations, web site design and watching science fiction films. Socially he enjoys a good Czech beer and cooking.



Iva Červenková

Iva comes from the Czech Republic, from Uherský Brod. But she’s been living in Prague since 2005. She is a student at the University of Economics in Prague, her major is Finance and Business Valuation and she is in her final year. To get some interesting experience and skill she took part in the Erasmus programme to gain experience and new skills and also spent the winter semester of 2009 at the Vienna University of Economics and Business.

She is interested in finance and accounting and studying foreign languages. She can speak English, German and French.

In her free time she likes doing sport, in winter she loves skiing and in summer in-line skating and cycling.



Simona Hrodejová

Simona comes from the Czech Republic - she was born and lives in Prague. She is a student of the University of Economics in Prague, where she is doing her Masters Degree majoring in International Trade and the obligatory subject Managerial Psychology and Sociology.

As far as her international experience is concerned she spent the summer semester of the year 2008 at the University of Economics in Nuremberg in Germany with the Erasmus Exchange Programme. She also attended one school-year at Gymnasium in Siegen, Germany in 2002/2003.

Simona can speak English and German. For her future job career Simona would like to work in Marketing or HR management.

In her free time, Simona likes doing sports, in particular cycling, skiing and aerobic dynamic kickboxing. She enjoys watching a good movie and theatre shows. She also loves travelling.



Eleanor Lurring

Eleanor is from the UK but has lived in Prague since 1992 and is now a fluent Czech speaker. She has taught both general and specialist professional English with the British Council, and with many international firms here. She also leads the British Council team of Cambridge examiners. Eleanor is an approved Delta tutor, and regularly delivers teacher training seminars, particularly related to the Cambridge examinations. She also trains Czech state school teachers of English. Eleanor is a qualified mediator, trained in 2008 by one of the top UK Conflict Management firms, Professional Mediation Resolutions Ltd. She has experience in conflict management training, and can also act as a mediator in workplace disputes.
